MANSEHRA: Four youngsters who were trapped amidst Kunhar River while catching wooden beams in floodwater were rescued by divers in Shawal area of Balakot on Wednesday.
“Our divers have rescued four youngsters who were trapped amid the flooding water in Kunhar River,” Amir Khadim, an official of Rescue 1122 told reporters.He said that locals had informed their control room on emergency telephone numbers that four youngsters, who were catching wooden beams in flooding water, were trapped amid the Kunhar River.
“Our team rushed to the spot and rescued them one by one and provided them emergency treatment,” Khadim said. He said the rescued youngsters were identified as Rizwan Hussain, 12, Zain Siraj, 14, Sufyan Shaukat, 15, and Hamad Sadiq, 15.
“We have repeatedly announced that nobody should go near rivers, particularly in monsoon season but people are least bothered and are putting their lives in danger,” he said. He said the district administration had placed a ban to prevent people from getting closer to the rivers. He said the people should follow the orders in letter and spirit.
