Islamabad:The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning about potential urban flooding due to anticipated widespread heavy rainfall across the country, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, from August 2 to 6, with some intermittent breaks.
It advised authorities to stay alert and take necessary precautions against flooding and other rain-related hazards in minimise damage to public life and property. During the monsoon period (July-August), the country usually records around 250mm of rainfall a month. In an advisory, the PMD warned that the August 2-6 downpour could trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Nowshera, and Peshawar.
