LAHORE:The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has announced that its School of Engineering will assist pre-medical students for enrollment in engineering programmes.
According to a press release, the aim of this initiative is to provide these students with opportunities to enter the field of engineering. University of Management and Technology will offer free maths deficiency classes to get admission in BS Electrical Engineering, BS Civil Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering and BS Computer Engineering. This facility will be available to students both on-campus and online, video recordings of the classes would also be accessible. The free maths deficiency classes will commence from August 19, 2024.
UMT Rector Dr Asif Raza stated that following the recent amendments by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), pre-medical students are now allowed to pursue engineering for the first time. However, pre-medical students must pass the engineering entry test. A specific quota has been allocated in each engineering department for students with a pre-medical background.
