KARACHI: Zulfiqar Ahmed, a well-known industrialist, abducted about five days ago from the Mauripur Road, has been found in Lahore, confirmed family sources.

Family and police stated that while nothing can be said yet about the kidnapping and return of Zulfiqar Ahmed, it can only be confirmed that he has been finally found. As soon as he returns to Karachi, the seven-member investigation team formed on his alleged kidnapping will question him about his abduction and return. “Zulfiqar Ahmed has been found in Lahore,” confirmed the family sources. “We have talked to him.”

It should be noted here that prominent businessman Zulfiqar Ahmed was abducted from the Mauripur Road in Karachi on July 23. According to family sources, Zulfiqar Ahmed, the owner of Paracha Textiles, Meezan Oil and Cola Next, and his partner Qaiser were forcibly taken at gunpoint by eight masked men in a double-cabin vehicle. However, Qaiser was released shortly after and Ahmed remains missing.

On Thursday, the Sindh High Court issued notices to the federal and provincial law officers, Sindh’s inspector general of police and others in response to a petition seeking the recovery of Zulfiqar Ahmed. The petitioner, Anber Zulfiqar, stated that her husband was a prominent businessman and managing director of textile manufacturing and oil companies. According to her, Ahmed left his office on July 23 with his friend Qaiser. The family reported that Ahmed was last seen being forcibly taken by masked gunmen on the Mauripur Road.

The Kalri police on Friday night registered an FIR against eight men who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping. The men were said to be carrying weapons when they took Ahmed away. Initially, the police had refused to register a case, prompting the Sindh High Court to summon the SHO of the police station for an explanation. Two high-powered teams have been formed to investigate the incident. The teams were led by the CIA deputy inspector general and Zonal DIG.

Meanwhile, two of the company’s senior employees who were also allegedly abducted in Lahore are yet to be recovered.
