Over Rs12m scholarships for children of police martyrs

LAHORE:IG has issued scholarships for higher education for the children of brave police martyrs. Educational scholarships worth Rs12.5 million have been awarded to the children of police martyrs from various districts, including Lahore. Scholarships worth Rs2m were given to the children of Lahore police martyrs, while the remaining scholarships were distributed to the families of police martyrs from all other districts.

Similarly, educational scholarships have been granted to the children of martyrs from various field formations such as PHP, traffic police, special branch, Punjab Constabulary, CTD, and Telecommunication. The IG said nearly Rs1 billion will be spent on the educational welfare of police employees' children this year.

CCPO reviews police performance

CCPO Lahore presided over a meeting at his office on Sunday. The meeting reviewed progress on the 'Key Performance Indicators' (KPIs) related to the performance of divisional officers. The meeting was informed that the 15 Call Data indicated a significant reduction in crime rates in the provincial capital.

The CCPO directed to intensify crackdown on illegal weapons and drugs, arrest proclaimed offenders, and set up checkpoints in crime-prone areas besides emphasising the prompt registration of cases and investigations based on merit.

104 drug pushers arrested across Punjab

Punjab police conducted 225 raids on the hideouts of drug dealers across the Punjab province and arrested 104 drug pushers during the last 24 hours. A Punjab police spokesperson said that during the special campaign ongoing for six months, police teams conducted 38,751 raids on the hideouts of drug dealers across Punjab. A total of 18,554 drug peddlers were arrested, and 18,042 cases were registered.

The confiscated drugs included 11,000 kilograms of charas, 58.5 kilograms of ice, 203 kilograms of heroin, 276 kilograms of opium, and over 1.708 million litres of liquor.
