Cambridge International Education (CIE) has completed its investigation into the leak of the AS Level Mathematics paper online before the exam and cancelled the paper after two and a half months.

Now the students will get the marks based on the marks obtained in the second paper of AS Level Mathematics. In an email to heads of schools, Cambridge said: “We have reviewed evidence from multiple sources and concluded that this specific paper was seen by a significant number of students in Pakistan before the start of the exam.”

It further said: “Our priority is to make sure we are fair to the majority of students who did not cheat. That means making sure those who cheated receive no advantage, so that students applying to university compete on an equal basis.

“In May, we received allegations of a potential paper leak for an AS Level Mathematics exam (9709, paper 12) taken on 2 May 2024. We have taken the necessary time to investigate this carefully. We are grateful for the patience and understanding shown by students and schools throughout this important work.”
