PESHAWAR: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUIF) staged protest demonstrations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against a Supreme Court decision in the Mubarak Sani case.

In Peshawar, a protest rally was launched from the historic Qasim Ali Khan mosque, which culminated at the main GT Road after passing through various routes and bazaars of the city. Provincial secretary general of the party Ataul Haq Darvesh, secretary information Abdul Jalil Jan, Mufti Shahbuddin Popalzai, Maulana Miskeen Shah and Ahmad Ali Darvesh led the demonstration. The speakers on the occasion said that the National Assembly had settled the issue once and for all in 1974. They said that the entire nation would gather at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore on September 7 on the call of JUIF to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the National Assembly decision.

They said that the decision should be withdrawn, otherwise, they would not only own constitutional options against the decision, but they would also resist it fully. In Mansehra, the rally culminated at the press club following participants marching through Abbottabad and Kashmir roads. Holding banners and placards, the participants raised slogans in support of their demands.

“We cannot allow the country’s apex court to rule against the constitution of this country, which says no law would be constituted against Islamic Shariah,” Maulana Waqarul Haq Usman, the prayer leader of the central mosque at Abbottabad Road, said.Maulana Saeed Abdullah told the protesters that their protest would continue until the apex court reviewed its decision in accordance with the Islamic jurisprudence.
