ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq has said judges have to dispense justice according to law and rules, not according to their conscience each time and everywhere.
He said that familiarity with the law is very important and lawyers in particular should know the law so that they can guide their clients and assist the court in a better way. Addressing the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq said that it is the era of information technology and young lawyers should adapt themselves to IT, and if they do not go with technology, they will be left behind.
He said notices are sent through email and research methods have been changed now, and with merely clicking a button, the relevant law will appear. He urged the lawyers to equip themselves with the modern technology or the world will move forward. CJ Aamer Farooq during his address said that the IHC had done landmark work in the field of IT and they would do more. He said he wanted to give a message to lawyers to improve themselves in technology. He noted that he started his professional career in 1993. He said litigants and lawyers are now well informed about the case email. He said an information machine has also been introduced in the IHC through which litigants will know about the details of their cases.
The IHC chief justice said technology was being used in the judiciary and case management information system in Judiciary was also available online. He added that they are now introducing a notice tracking system in the judiciary and there must be a paper- free environment and we are now moving towards e-filing of cases.
He said the issue of appointments of new judges in Islamabad was still pending but it would be completed soon. He said a place had been allocated for the establishment of a library in Islamabad courts. He called the training programme for new lawyers a welcome initiative, saying that what we have to do is to be done in accordance with the law. He was of the view that familiarity with the law is essential. CJ Aamer Farooq also visited the District Court of Islamabad yesterday on the invitation of the District Bar Association. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz were also present on the occasion.
The IHC chief justice also inaugurated various projects and a facility centre at the Judicial Complex Islamabad. A large number of officials of the Islamabad Bar Council and the Islamabad Bar Association, and lawyers were also present on this occasion.
