Being a coalition partner, PPP will not let govt fall: Bokhari
Bokhari said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari offered negotiations to all parliamentary parties
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari made it clear that being in the government coalition, the PPP has a commitment to continue the democratic system and will not let the government to fall.
“The PPP has always dialogued with political opponents in the interest of democratic system continuity and national interest,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Bokhari said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari offered negotiations to all parliamentary parties. “President Asif Zardari has been continuously calling for the resolution of crises through dialogue to remove the constitutional body from the parliament,” he said.
Bokhari said that the sustainable solution of constitutional national issues lies in the people’s aspirations in the parliament. He has said that constitutional amendments and legislation are only the authority of the parliament.
Bokhari said that political activity should be avoided in sensitive places and national security offices. “Armed forces offices are a symbol of defence line and national security and those responsible for attacks on national security institutions should be punished without delay,” he said.
He said exercise of fundamental constitutional rights is permitted within the framework of the law. He said if there is a strong state and a stable country then there is politics and there is also governance. “Enmity against the state in the guise of politics is tantamount to treason,” he said.
Bokhari said the constitution punishes those who do not abide by the constitutional oath. He said the parliamentary democratic system is a guarantee of political and economic stability.
