PESHAWAR: Monsoon plantation drive was launched at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) in collaboration with the Climate Change Forestry Environment and Wildlife Department on Thursday.
The drive witnessed participation from various community members and organizations dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability. The presence of such diverse groups underscored the community’s shared commitment to tackling climate change through practical and immediate actions, like planting trees.
Divisional Forest Officer Tariq Khadim spoke about the importance of such initiatives in addressing the pressing issue of climate change. SDFO Sattar Khan and Community Development Officer Shaida Muhammad Khan were also present, each bringing their expertise and support to the event.
The administrative officers along with faculty members and the Green Youth Movement members eagerly joined the plantation activity, taking turns to plant trees. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Safia Ahmed set the tone by planting the first tree, a symbolic act that underscored her commitment to environmental sustainability.
