BANNU: There was an euphoria among the peace marchers and dwellers of the district when announcements were made on loudspeakers about the positive results of protest sit-in following the acceptance of their all demands in the Apex Committee meeting held in Peshawar on Thursday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is going to visit Bannu and announce the decision of Apex Committee and acceptance of their demands in a public meeting today.Announcements were on loudspeakers in mosques and bazaars about the Apex Committee’s decision and its declaration by KP chief minister in a public meeting. Thousands of people are expected to participate in a public meeting-cum peace rally.
On Thursday, the peace committee members consisting of former Senator Baz Muhammad Khan, Prof Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, provincial Minister Malik Pakhtunyar Khan, lawmaker Adnan Khan and Nasir Khan pleaded the case for peace at the Apex Committee meeting.
They presented the demands related to peace on behalf of the people of Bannu and all the demands were accepted in the meeting accordingly.
However, the peace marchers continued their sit-in as per their routine at Abdullah Shah Bukhari Chowk. All bazaars and markets remained shut throughout the day.Also, Malik Liaqat Ali Khan, the former candidate for the provincial assembly from North Waziristan, also came with a convoy to show solidarity with the people of Bannu.The people from Ahmadzai Wazir tribe also staged a rally for the solidarity with peace marchers and restoration of peace in the region.
