City police chief wants concrete action plan against crime
A meeting was held at DIG South Office under the chairmanship of Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho on Wednesday regarding crime and its prevention.
Officials said the meeting was attended by the DIGs South and Investigation, the SSPs South, City and Keamari and other senior officers.
Odho sought information from the police officers regarding crime and its prevention and issued instructions to formulate a comprehensive strategy. During the meeting, police action against absconding and proclaimed offenders was also discussed and the officers were ordered to make their action plan more concrete and integrated in this regard.
Additional IG Odho said the police action should be made more stringent and successful against street crime, drugs, gambling and other social evils and those involved in such crimes. Instructions were issued to take strict measures against motorcycle and vehicle thefts. Odho had issued directives for investigating cases on the basis of merit and submit challans to the courts on time.
Earlier, the city police chief visited the SSU headquarters where he was received by DIG Security Dr Maqsood Ahmed and other senior officers. Dr Maqsood Ahmed gave a briefing about the performance of units working under the umbrella of the Security Division. The additional IG praised the administrative matters and operations of the units and called the SSU the “bright face of Sindh Police” and an “exemplary unit”.
He emphasized the importance of refresher courses for commandos to ensure they remain fit, healthy and alert during their duties. Additional IG Odho said that digitised security methods are being adopted rapidly around the world, and keeping in mind its importance, we are also going to digitize security matters. He issued instructions to the DIG Security to implement the plan.
