12 Wasa disposal stations to be upgraded
Disposal stations where SCADA system will be installed include Outfall 1, 2, 3, Shadbagh, Mahmood Booti, Shadi Pura and other areas
LAHORE:Information Technology University will assist Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Lahore to install SCADA system at 12 disposal stations.
In this regard, a meeting was held by Director P&E Mudassar Javed on the special instructions of Wasa MD Ghafran Ahmed here on Wednesday. Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University Dr Tausef Tauqeer attended the meeting while Daniyal Younis gave a briefing on the system. The disposal stations where SCADA system will be installed include Outfall 1, 2, 3, Shadbagh, Mahmood Booti, Shadi Pura, Kattar Band, Nishtar, Lakshmi, Gulshan Ravi, Multan Road and Farrukhabad Disposal Station. This upgrade will help in automatic monitoring of disposal stations and improvement of energy management system, Mudassar said, adding the upgrade will automate Wasa Lahore's energy management system to track electricity consumption and re-verify bills with Wapda.
He said this upgradation will also improve the monitoring of the disposal station during monsoon and the installation of the SCADA system will provide real-time information about the water level, power availability, and operation of generators at the disposal station. Meanwhile, Wasa MD also presided over a meeting about overall performance in which all directors of operations and revenue participated. Wasa MD said that measures needed to be taken on war footing in improving the revenue collection. He said there will be a zero tolerance policy on financial irregularities and negligence in revenue collection and directed all directors to take action against defaulters without any discrimination. He also directed that FIRs should be registered against the defaulters. The meeting was briefed that during the current financial year 2023-24, new connections have been added to the revenue network of Wasa. The MD directed for redressing public grievances and expressed anger at the officers who showed negligence in resolving public complaints. He warned that no negligence will be tolerated in redressal of public grievances. He instructed agency’s IT team to create digital system for Wasa.
