PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday through a unanimous resolution condemned the desecration of the Pakistani flag by some Afghan miscreants at the Pakistan Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, and asked the federal government to take this issue with the German government.
The joint resolution moved by Pakistan Peoples Party Member Provincial Assembly Ahmad Karim Kundi stated that vandalism by a group of Afghan miscreants at the Pakistan Consulate had caused deep anger and concern to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, asking the federal government to demand German government for a complete investigation into the incident and punish those involved in the desecration of Pakistani flags.
“The German government should also provide protection and security to the Pakistani mission and consulates in that country in the future,” the resolution added.
The provincial assembly also passed another resolution, expressing concern over the alleged mental and physical torture of former prime minister and founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, at the Adiyala Jail where he had been kept allegedly in a death-like cell.
The resolution, tabled by Sunny Ittehad Council MPA Suhail Afridi, stated that Imran Khan was a political prisoner but he was being treated like a criminal inside the jail.
“Imran Khan is a former prime minister and popular leader of the people of Pakistan and such a treatment on the part of federal as well as the Punjab governments would be a blot on the provincial and federal governments,” the resolution said and demanded that the founding chairman of the PTI should be provided all basic facilities and he must be treated in dignified and civilized manner.
Through another resolution, the assembly demanded, the withdrawal of, what it said were, fake and fabricated cases against former federal minister and PTI absconding leader Murad Saeed who had played a vital role in establishing peace in Malakand division and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“Murad Saeed was termed a traitor and was trapped into false treason cases but he had put his life at risk while raising his voice for peace in Pakistan,” the resolution said and added that the former federal minister must be protected by the state.
The opposition benches did not oppose the resolutions presented by treasury benches in support of Imran Khan and Murad Saeed and kept mum at the time of its passage from the House.
Earlier, five questions related to different provincial departments were referred to relevant standing committees of the House after the provincial ministers did not provide satisfactory answers to the questions raised by opposition members.
