Customs Dept sets drugs, illegal goods on fire

KOHAT: The Customs officials on Tuesday torched narcotics and illegal products, which had been seized during actions in various areas in the Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan Zones.

In a ceremony, the Customs Department, Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan Zones, Customs Chief Collector, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Jamil Nasir torched the tonnes of drugs, cigarettes, tobacco and other contraband seized in actions in these areas.

Customs Collector, Dera Ismail Khan, Ziaul Shams, Commander Station Headquarters Brigadier Moinuddin, District Police Officer Umar Khan, Customs Additional Collector, Dera Ismail Khan, Halima Qasim, Customs Assistant Collector, Kohat, Farwa Batool and others attended the ceremony.

Jamil Nasir said that officials of his department were striving to control smuggling on the Pak-Afghan border to promote legal business and trade across the border.The Customs Department had launched a crackdown against the smugglers and drug- traffickers, who were involved in the drug-trafficking and smuggling of other items. They had seized a huge quantity of drugs and other contraband.
