LAHORE:Scattered rain hit the provincial capital early Tuesday which turned the weather pleasant, bringing temperature down while the Met office has predicted rain-wind/thundershower (with few heavy falls) during next 24 hours.
Metrological Department officials warned that heavy falls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galliyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Malakand, Dir Swat, Shangla, Bunner, Kurrum, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand, Nowshera, Swabi and Kashmir.
They said urban flooding was also expected in low-lying areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa today (Wednesday) while landslides may disrupt roads at the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the wet period.
Metrological Department officials said that monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal were penetrating upper/central parts of the country while a trough of westerly wave was also affecting upper/central parts of the country.
They predicted that rain-windstorm/thundershower was expected in upper/central Punjab,
Islamabad, Pothohar region, Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast/south Balochistan and southeast Sindh while isolated heavy fall was also expected during the forecast period.
Hot and very humid weather is expected in other parts of the country. Rainfall occurred in various cities of the country. Tuesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Sibbi where mercury reached 47°C, while in Lahore, it was 34.5°C and minimum was 25.0°C.
