The Sindh government has decided to take decisive action against drug use throughout the province. This was said by the Senior Minister for Information, Transport, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Sharjeel Inam Memon, who presided over a meeting with officers of the Excise Narcotics Control Wing at the Directorate of Excise and Narcotics Control in Karachi on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Salim Rajput, Director General Narcotics Control Wing Usman Ghani Siddiqui and other officers. Memon was briefed on the anti-narcotics operations and ongoing initiatives across the province. He instructed the Narcotics Control Wing officers to take strict and decisive action against drugs on a daily basis.
He stated that drug dealers had become a nuisance to society and would not be forgiven under any circumstances. The increasing supply and use of drugs in both urban and rural areas was concerning, he said and emphasised that strict and effective actions should be taken against drugs in every city. He said the police would always be ready to support the excise teams.
The minister said the Sindh government’s policy against drugs was based on zero tolerance, and there would be no leniency for any criminal involved in drug trafficking. He emphasised that the prosecution of cases should be strengthened to ensure that drug peddlers faced the full consequences of their actions.
