Elon Musk celebrates success of minority groups in US

KARACHI: Social media platform X owner and business tycoon Elon Musk has cherished the fact that some of the most successful people in the United States belong to minority groups.

“Wow, America really is the land of opportunity!†Musk stated in a post he wrote on his verified X (former Twitter) account on July 18.

In the post, he also shared data originally posted by a verified account titled “The Rabbit Hole”. According to the data, the median household income of the Indians living in the US in 2018 was $119,858, which was the highest among other groups in the data.

The Taiwanese people living in the US had the median household income of $95,736 in 2018. It was followed by $81,487 median income of the Chinese and $80,036 median income of the Japanese.

The Pakistanis ranked fifth in the data with $77,315 as their median income. Next on the list were the Filipino and Indonesian communities with $75,279 and $74,497 as their median income respectively. The median income of the Koreans in the US in 2018 was $72,074 and that of the Cambodians was $67,538. The Hmong community’s median income was $67,372 and the Vietnamese community’s was $67,331. In contrast to these minority groups, the White Americans median income in 2018 was $65,902.
