ISLAMABAD: An accountability court Monday extended the physical remand of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to additional seven days in the new Toshakhana reference.

On July 14, the court initially approved an eight-day physical remand of the couple. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sought an extension in the remand, which was granted until Monday. The accountability watchdog has filed a progress report on investigation in the case.

The decision to grant further remand comes in light of a federal notification mandating the couple’s jail trial due to the potential law and order concerns. The court’s directive aligns with this notification, underscoring the sensitive nature of the case.
