Sindh police’s security steps a matter of satisfaction for us: Chinese consul general

A special ceremony was held at the Central Police Office Karachi, on Monday to pay tribute to the martyrs of the November 23, 2018, terrorist attack on the Chinese Consulate.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar was the chief guest at the medal distribution ceremony. Family members of ASI Ashraf Dawood and Constable Amir were also present on the occasion.

Other participants of the ceremony included Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong, Sindh IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, additional IGs, DIGs and other senior officers.

In his address, the home minister said that today we are paying tribute to the bravery of the police officers and jawans who have made history by sacrificing their precious lives to protect the life and property of the people.

He said he was also deeply grateful to the government of China, in particular, for remembering the extraordinary response of SP Suhai Aziz to the terrorist attack on the Chinese Consulate in November 2018 and fpr paying tribute to our martyrs ASI Ashraf Dawood and Constable Mohammad Amir.

He said that the martyrs of Sindh Police are our pride and the Sindh government has been at the forefront of supporting the Police Department on every occasion. The provincial home minister said that the need of the hour was to increase the manpower of the Sindh Police to make the ongoing war against crime effective and successful.

He said the credit for establishing peace in the province, especially in Karachi, goes to the sacrifices of the martyrs of the Sindh Police, who do not even hesitate to sacrifice their precious lives for the protection of the lives and property of the people.

He told the families of the martyrs that the government and the Police Department will always have compassion for them and timely redressal of their problems and difficulties will remain at the top of all their priorities. Moreover, your welfare will be the primary responsibility of the government of Sindh, he said, adding that during the terrorist attack on the Chinese Consulate, SP Suhai Aziz responded promptly and saved it from a major disaster.

In his address, he assured the Chinese that the process of providing foolproof security to them throughout Sindh was going on and would continue.

IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon said in his address that the sacrifices of our martyrs are an asset to us while their deeds are a significant torchlight, while the Police Department is committed to the welfare and care of the heirs of its martyrs.

“The Sindh Police is grateful for all possible support and cooperation from the Chinese government. The job of the police is to protect the life and property of the people and timely redress their problems and problems. Today, we are proud of the invaluable and unparalleled sacrifices of these martyrs in peace building and goals against crime and the martyrs of the police are our real heroes.”

On this occasion, the Chinese consul general said that the security measures adopted by the Sindh Police are a matter of satisfaction for us. He said that we are aware of the pain of the heirs of those who have been separated or sacrificed in the way of duty and that is why the Chinese government has always been and will always be at the forefront of the support and cooperation of the Sindh Police.

At the end of the ceremony, a commemorative shield was exchanged between the Sindh Police and the consul general, while AIG Finance Suhai Aziz was also given a commemorative medal by the Chinese government.

The home minister presented gifts from the Sindh Police to the next of kin of the martyrs who attended the ceremony. Later, Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a meeting at his office regarding security of Chinese residents and experts at the Central Police Office Karachi.

Officials said the meeting was attended by Consul General Yang Yundong, Additional IGs Karachi and Operations, DIGs of Headquarters, CIA, Establishment, SPU/Security and other senior officers and a large number of people from the Chinese business community.

IGP Memon said that for the government of Pakistan and the Sindh government, the security of Chinese is a very sensitive and serious matter. We need more cooperation to protect our Chinese brothers, he said and added that the Sindh Police are taking steps at all levels to protect Chinese residents. Moreover, the setting up of a coordination group for immediate contact with Chinese experts and the citizens is under consideration.

Chinese nationals should make the administrators of their hosts and institutions obliged to implement the Sindh Police SOP on arrival in Pakistan, requested the IGP.
