Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its drive against substandard and adulterated food and sealed various outlets besides issuing strict warnings to many on Thursday.
A team of PFA Samanabad Town led by its Director Operations Ayesha Mumtaz raided the manufacturing unit of Sufi Sweets at Bastami Road. The team seized expired cooking oil and rotten vegetables on the spot while the cleanliness conditions at the workplace were also pathetic. There were no labels having manufacturing and expiry dates on various products whereas there was no record of purchases. The PFA team confiscated all material and sealed the unit.
PFA’s Allama Iqbal Town team sealed Pure It Water Plant while Nishter Town team sealed Ramazan Soda Water Plant in the Green Town area for different violations. A team of Aziz Bhatti Town sealed Siddique Milk Shop for mixing chemicals and water into milk. A team of Data Town sealed Bismillah Hotel on Bund Road, Majeed Milk Shop and Mian Gulzar Hotel for different violations. A team of Gulberg Town checked various shops at Bibi Pakdaman Darbar and sealed Boota Bakery for using banned chemicals and food colours, having no medical of the workers and using dirty utensils. A team of Shalimar Town raided Butt Soda Water at Singhpura and sealed it for not installing water filtration plant and using chemicals instead of sugar in the finished products.
