Cop martyred in Peshawar’s attack

PESHAWAR: A policeman was martyred in yet another attack on a post in the Urmar area of the provincial capital while the vehicle of a woman cop was attacked on Nowshera-Mardan Road on Sunday.

Officials said that Constable Saeedullah embraced martyrdom when assailants attacked the Arandu Khwarh police post in Urmar village.Some reports said the attack was carried out by a sniper.

The cops at the checkpost returned the fire but the attackers escaped, the officials said.The funeral prayer for the fallen cop was offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines later.Senior cops attended the funeral and paid tributes to the fallen policeman. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and others also paid tributes to martyred cop Saeedullah.

Meanwhile, an official of the National Highways and Motorway Police said Sub-Inspector Javeria Shah of NHMP escaped unharmed when two armed motorcyclists opened fire on her car on Mardan Nowshera Road.The officer was on way to join her duty when her car came under attack. Police started an investigation after launching a search operation in the area.
