Increasing trend in prices of fruits, vegetables persists

LAHORE:An increasing trend in the prices of perishable items persisted as rates of some seasonal vegetables remained high on the third consecutive week while the poultry suppliers jacked up rates of chicken up to Rs200 per kilogram during the last fortnight.

The issue of overcharging also persisted in the absence of any check from the authorities. The provincial information minister had done couple of pressers when the prices of some perishables were slightly reduced and took claims of the government’s efforts brought them down. However, now all the authorities and ministers are silent on increasing trend of the prices.

This week price of chicken was further gained by Rs59 per kg, fixed at Rs416-432 per kg, sold at Rs470 per kg, and chicken meat by Rs85 per kg, fixed Rs626 per kg, and sold Rs650-1100 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin fixed at Rs76-82 per kg, sold at Rs140-150 per kg, B-grade reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs65-70 per kg, and C-grade at Rs55-60 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg. The price of onion A-grade reduced by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs92-100 per kg, sold at Rs130-140 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs85-90 per kg, and C-grade increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs75-80 per kg, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs145-155 per kg, sold at Rs300 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs125-135 per kg, and C-grade at Rs112-120 per kg, mixed sold at Rs180-200 per kg. The price of garlic local further gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs345-360 per kg, sold at Rs450-500 per kg, garlic local (red) fixed at Rs340-355 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg, Garlic Harnai fixed at Rs380-395 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg, Garlic GI variety was fixed at Rs115-120 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg and Garlic China price was not fixed sold at Rs1000 per kg.

The price of Ginger Thai unchanged at Rs590-610 per kg, and Ginger Chinese further gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs630-650 per kg, both sold at Rs800-1000 per kg.

Cucumber Farm was gained by Rs10 per kg, unchanged at Rs67-70 per kg, sold at Rs120 per kg, and cucumber local increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs72-75 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 kg.

Brinjal price was gained by Rs45 per kg, fixed Rs130-135 per kg, sold at Rs180-200per kg. Bitter gourd gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs95-100 per kg, sold at Rs140-160 per kg. The price of Spinach farm reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs42-45 at Rs80-100 per kg. Zucchini local was further reduced by Rs40 per kg, fixed at Rs115-120 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg, Zucchini farm unchanged at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 per kg, and Zucchini long by increased Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg. The lemon local further gained by Rs75 per kg, fixed at Rs350-365 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg. The price of different variety of apples increased by Rs5 of apples fixed at Rs58-335 per kg, sold at Rs300-800 per kg.

The price of Banana A-category gained by Rs10 per doze, fixed at Rs135-140 per dozen, sold at Rs200-220 per dozen, and B-category by Rs15 per dozen, fixed at Rs90-95 per dozen, sold at Rs150 per dozen, and C-category by Rs4 per dozen, fixed at Rs60-64 per dozen, sold at Rs130 per dozen. Pomegranate desi was gained by Rs40 per kg, fixed at Rs270-280 per kg, sold at Rs350-450 per kg.

Dates Irani gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs440-460 per kg, sold at Rs800 to 1400 per kg. Peach was gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs145-210 per kg, sold at Rs200-350 per kg. Phalsa was increased by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs300-310 per kg, sold at Rs450-600 per kg. Apricot white reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs155-160 per kg, sold at Rs220-400 per kg, Apricot Ameri was fixed at Rs170-180 per kg, sold at Rs300-500 per kg. Mangoes of different variety was fixed at Rs120-170 per kg, sold at Rs180-450 per kg.
