ISLAMABAD: After the dissolution of Pak PWD, it has been decided to set up a new body, called Pakistan Infrastructure Development and Asset Management Authority.

This authority will be created under an Act. The decision was made in a special committee meeting under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister of Housing and Construction. The recommendations of the committee will be submitted to the Prime Minister for final approval.

According to the minister, this agency will be responsible for the construction of offices of federal departments and the construction and completion of development projects of PSDP. The Asset Wing of the Authority will compile and monitor records of PWD and federal properties.

As per recommendations, PWD inquiries along with staff will be transferred to CDA in Islamabad as it is already maintaining government houses through enquiries. In other cities also the inquiries will be transferred to the departments concerned.

The maintenance of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Election Commission of Pakistan and Prime Minister’s Office, which is currently with PWD, will also be transferred to CDA as the maintenance of the Federal Secretariat is already with it. Golden handshake will be offered to gazetted technical officers of PWD. The non-technical staff will be sent to the of the Establishment Division surplus pool. Three options have been suggested regarding the ongoing projects of PWD, out of which the Prime Minister will take the final decision. One suggestion is that the ongoing development schemes should be completed by PWD. The second suggestion is that they should be given to ministries concerned. The third suggestion is that the new authority should complete them. The recommendations of the committee will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office next week.
