The suspect involved in a recent robbery in Gulshan-e-Iqbal while wearing a Rangers uniform turned out to be an actual soldier of the paramilitary force. Suspect Zahid has been arrested, and the stolen money and other items have been recovered.
Though Rangers and police officials were unavailable for comment, according to media reports, Zahid was on leave. Adil Jan, the owner of the food centre where the robbery had occurred, told the investigators that he knew the suspect.
Jan said he and the suspect had had a financial dispute, adding that after depriving him of his money, the suspect had taken him to Surjani Town and abandoned him there.
Based on the complainant’s identification, the officials of the paramilitary force raided the suspect’s home and arrested him with Rs1.8 million in cash and other items.
This past Thursday, a man in a Rangers uniform had robbed a food centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Sector 13-D. The suspect had made his escape after snatching mobile phones and cash at gunpoint.
