ISLAMABAD: Pakistan have made it to the pre-quarter-finals of the World Junior Squash (team event) winning their Group C matches in Houston (Texas).
According to reports reaching here Pakistan edged out Germany 2-1 and then went on to beat New Zealand 3-0 to secure a place in the pre-quarters.
Pakistan has made it to the pre-quarter despite top player Hamza Khan’s exit from the team match against Germany.
Hamza however recovered to play the next team match and was declared mentally and physically fit to play the pre-quarters against Australia.
Hamza was trailing 1-6 against German player in the third game when he retired, conceding the match to opponents.
Abdullah Nawaz and Huzaifa won their matches easily.
Later Hamza. Ammad and Abdullah all won their matches against New Zealand.
Mohammad Zakaria earlier became the youngest player to have won the world junior squash title. He defeated tournament’s surprise package Joo Young Na 11-6, 11-4, 11-6 to win the title in style.
