This refers to the letter captioned ‘Quacks at large’ (July 19, 2024) by Shaheen Ali Tunio. The writer has touched upon a very critical issue badly ignored by previous and current administrations. The incorrect diagnosis of quacks, because of their poor knowledge and complete lack of qualifications, is destroying the health of poor and marginalized people in rural as well as urban areas, who are unable to afford the heavy fees of qualified doctors sitting in private clinics or in hospitals of repute.
Under the circumstances, the incumbent government needs to provide healthcare centres for the underprivileged and take prompt action to rid the country of quacks exploiting the shortcomings in our healthcare system.
