ISLAMABAD: After many weeks of informal contacts, finally the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) have formally agreed to hold talks at the committee level.
According to sources, PTI senior leader and ex-speaker NA Asad Qaiser called on JUIF supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence late on Thursday night. Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari was also present. The two sides discussed threadbare the country’s political situation and economic, constitutional and parliamentary issues.
Asad informed Fazl about the names of the negotiation committee the PTI has formed. In return, the JUIF leadership assured forming a negotiation committee soon. The JUIF will inform the PTI leadership about the names of the negotiation committee in a few days.
Meanwhile, the PTI has urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to immediately hear the case related to the recovery of “missing persons and put a halt to the ongoing efforts aimed at “coercing PTI affiliates into switching loyalties.”
The PTI spokesperson said the case regarding the recovery of missing persons be fixed for immediate hearing so as to ensure their earliest release in the light of a miscellaneous application filed in the apex court by jurist Aitzaz Ahsan.
