ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Core Committee on Friday condemned the incidents of firing during a peace march in Bannu and ‘directed’ the provincial government to hold an immediate and transparent investigation therein.

In the context of the current situation, the committee noted with concern that there was also a fear that this protest of people might engulf the entire country and the situation might go out of control. The Core Committee’s emergency meeting reviewed the situation and noted that the violent incidents that happened during the peaceful protest organized by all political parties and civil society bodies in Bannu were a cause of great concern for the people of the country, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The committee urged the provincial government to make immediate efforts to restore peace, give reasonable compensation to the families of the victims and arrange immediate treatment for the injured.

The forum condemned the violent incidents and expressed sympathy to the affected families and assured that it would not support any policy that was against the rights of people.
