ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari said on Thursday that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stands with the federal government and supports the cabinet decisions as they are coalition partners.
Bokhari took to the social media platform ‘X’ to disown all dissenting voices within the party that opposed the government’s plan to ban the PTI and initiate proceedings under Article 6 against PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, former president Dr Arif Alvi and former deputy speaker Qasim Suri.
He clarified that any differing views expressed by members of the PPP are personal opinions and do not reflect the party’s policy.
He reiterated that the PPP would formulate its official position only after consultations on the matter. Bokhari also noted that the PPP issues its official stance only through its spokesperson or designated persons.
In his statement, he specifically mentioned Farhatullah Babar, saying that Babar’s tweet against the federal government’s decision was his personal opinion and not the party’s policy. “Farhatullah Babar’s tweet is not party policy,” he clarified.
Nayyer Bokhari’s statement came at a time when the federal government announced its intention to approach the Supreme Court to ban the PTI, a decision criticised by several PPP leaders.
On Tuesday, Secretary-General Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari had issued a statement distancing the PPP from dissenting voices within the party on the government’s decision to ban the PTI.
