ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi on Thursday challenged their arrest in a new Toshakhana reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

In the petition filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the arrests, Khan has nominated the chairman, director general and other officers of the anti-graft watchdog as respondents.

“The petitioners have been arrested in violation of law, Constitution and fundamental rights,” the petition stated. It maintained that Khan and Bushra had been “illegally” remanded into NAB’s custody while their arrest had affected the fundamental rights of “liberty and pre-arrest”.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has fixed for hearing on July 22 the petition filed by PTI founder Imran Khan against dismissal of his interim bail plea in 3 cases related to May 9.

A two-member bench of LHC presided over by Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry took up the petition for hearing Thursday. Azhar Siddique advocate appeared in the court on behalf of PTI founder.

During the hearing of the case, LHC removed the office objection to pleas of Imran Khan. The court fixed the petition for hearing on July 22.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has challenged the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore decision of granting his physical remand in 12 cases in Lahore High Court (LHC). He has filed 12 petitions in the LHC through Barrister Suleman Safdar.

Imran Khan has taken the plea in his petitions that ATC Lahore has not taken correct review of record while granting physical remand. “I am imprisoned in jail. Police have already conducted investigation. Law was not kept in view while granting physical remand.” he maintained.

The former prime minister requested the court to nullify the physical remand granted by the court in 12 cases.
