MIRPUR (AJK): The Youm-e-Ashura was observed with religious solemnity in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Commemoration of this sacred day marks the supreme sacrifices of the lives of the grandson of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who embraced martyrdom in the blazing deserts of Karbala.
The Tazia, Alam and Zuljinnah processions were taken out from central imambargahs in all major cities of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh, Bhimber, Sudhanoti, Haveili, Rawalakot, Hattiyan and Neelam valley districts, which culminated at their stipulated religious sites after passing through their traditional routes.
With the blessings of Almighty Allah, no any untoward incident was reported in any part of the AJK as complete sectarian harmony and brotherhood prevails across the liberated territory and because of fool proof security and other arrangements by the AJK government.
Water and milk stalls were set up to quench the thirst of the mourners. All three stations of Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur, Tararkheil and Muzaffarabad aired special programmes in the backdrop of the historic significance being one of the biggest tragedy in Islamic history depicting the supreme sacrifices of the Karbala martyrs.
Majlis-e-Sham-e-Ghariban was also another important icon of the day-long event to pay glowing tributes to the martyrs of Karbala. The scholars highlighted the philosophy of sacrifices urging upon Muslim Ummah to follow the footprints of the Great Imam (RA), who did not bow before evil forces and upheld the fold of Islam to appease the Almighty Allah.
