LAHORE:Lahore High Court (LHC) while ordering to demolish the brick kilns causing smog without notice has remarked deputy commissioners of Punjab will be responsible if court orders are violated at brick kilns.
Justice Shahid Karim of LHC issued written orders on hearing of the petitions filed with reference to eradication of smog.Justice Shahid Karim issued seven page written order on the petitions including petition of citizen Haroon Farooqui.
The court while ordering to demolish the brick kilns causing smoke has remarked the black smoke emitting from brick kilns constructed on old technology be demolished without issuing any notice.
The court orders are being violated openly on bricks kilns. Environment department is responsible for violation of court s orders.It was written in the court s orders that we are giving last warning to deputy commissioner Sheikhupura and deputy director environment for implementation of court s orders.
If court s orders are violated on brick kilns then deputy commissioners of Punjab will be responsible.It was said in written order that LWMC has filed report. As per report CEO has imposed ban on all sweepers to work on Canal road from 7.00am to 10.00am.Member of judicial commission will visit industries adjacent to Lahore Ring road who will review all the industries are implementing SOPs related to smog.
It was further said in the order that Wasa too has filed the list of societies violating water norms. Some societies have paid fine amount. Wasa should issue final notice to other societies for payment of fine amount.
