My father runs a grocery store along with my brother and I often lend them a helping hand. Last week, some government officials visited Raiwind's Model Bazar to check the availability and price of flour in the market. Amid their visit, they also came to our shop, and inquired if we had a license to sell flour or not. My father was warned that he would be fined Rs10000 if he sold flour without a permit again. After this development, my father rushed to the nearby government office to submit an application for the issuance of a flour licence but he was told that the government is no longer issuing flour licences.
This incident has directly affected our business. There is already a great slump in the market due to skyrocketing inflation and many customers now prefer other shops where they are provided with all groceries and flour at one point. If the government is not interested in issuing flour licences then why is it outlawing the sale of flour without a permit?
