BANNU: The security forces foiled a terror bid in Bannu Cantonment by killing four attackers in the retaliatory action.

It was learnt that the militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the wall of the supply depot on the Juma Khan Road near the Kohati Gate in the limits of Cantonment Police Station at around 5:45 am. Swinging into action, the security forces retaliated and killed four attackers. The blast was so intense that it damaged the windowpanes and ceilings of several plazas, hotels and houses in the vicinity.

The blast also smashed the windowpanes at the Bannu Press Club and damaged its ceiling. Sporadic blasts and firing took place in the Bannu city later. The city and its adjacent localities wore a deserted look.

The Juma Khan and other roads leading to the Bannu cantonment were closed to traffic after the explosion. The Judicial Complex was also closed for security reasons and police were put on high alert. The security forces launched a search operation after the blast.
