MoU signed to streamline traffic

Islamabad:Zaman Research Centre (ZRC), the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Jazz have joined hands to streamline traffic on Islamabad roads by signing an MoU in a ceremony held here, says a press release.

Prof Muhammad Zaman, head of ZRC and founding chairman of School of Sociology at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) explained that the agreement is part of HEC-funded Grand Challenge Fund project titled ‘Optimal Use of Available Resources: A Prototype Model for Islamabad Roads.’ He said under the agreement, Jazz will provide the CDA with data of movement of citizens on Islamabad roads.

Prof Zaman, and Syed Ali Naseer, Chief Data Analyst from Jazz, signed the document. Prof Zaman said by sharing of OD Matrix data for the population of twin cities with the CDA, the city managers will be able to identify passenger routes aptly, optimize resources and time movement of public transport. Syed Ali Naseer said his company had the largest telecom data in the country. He added that the digital data is of key importance in modern data mindset to resolve the issues in multiple disciplines through specific analysis.

Prof Zaman and his team is working on plans of the project to resolve the issues like traffic congestion, planning smart parking and violation. He is the pioneer of introducing modern technology to resolve chronic problems like unsafe roads in Pakistan.
