LAHORE:More than 5,000 police officials were deployed for security of Majalis and processions on 8th Muharram (Monday) in the City.
This was stated by the spokesperson for Lahore Police here Monday. The City witnessed 425 majalis and 87 mourning processions. Around 43 majalis were held in Category A, 283 in Category B and 99 in Category C.
Meanwhile, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasised stringent security measures across the City to ensure peaceful conduct of Muharram events. Continuous monitoring via control rooms and CCTV cameras has been implemented for security updates during majalis and processions, he added. The CCPO directed effective traffic management around routes of processions to maintain smooth flow using Dolphin Squad, PRUs and Elite teams.
