Chitral residents seek early rehabilitation
PESHAWAR: Several residents of Chitral on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration to press the government to take effective measures at the earliest for the rehabilitation of the flood and earthquake affected people of the district.
Led by Fazil Khan, president Anjuman-e-Tajiran Chitrali Bazaar, the protesters said that the devastating floods last years paralysed life in Chitral. “The link roads and bridges were washed away by the flash floods. The electricity system was completely destroyed,” Fazil said.
They said that the 0.7 million people of Chitral were having no electricity for the last one year. The protesters demanded the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to take personal interest and help complete the electricity projects at the earliest. They also demanded the government to reconstruct the damaged infrastructure in the district, otherwise the people of Chitral would stage a sit-in outside the CM’s House for their rights.
