The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh police announced on Saturday the arrest of an alleged militant associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
According to the CTD, the arrested militant was identified as Hidayatullah, also known as Maulana Abdul Hakeem, who served as the in-charge of the Swat TTP's education affairs.
The arrest was made during a raid in the SITE area by the CTD Investigation Unit, stated a CTD spokesperson.
Hidayatullah was apprehended while he was collecting funds for militants of the TTP, the CTD said, adding that law enforcers seized Rs6,000 in cash and a receipt book in his possession. The CTD said Hidayatullah's father Muhammad Ghous was killed in the Afghan war in 2000, while his brother Kifayatullah had been missing since the Swat operation.
