LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Sanam Javed soon after her release from central jail Gujranwala, sources confirmed on Saturday.
Teams from Islamabad and Lahore arrived in Gujranwala to arrest her. She has been booked and arrested in a new case related to the events of May 9, despite having recently been given bail in other cases.
The FIA Cyber Crime Cell lodged a case against her for allegedly posting inciting remarks on May 9, urging people to attack the Jinnah House. Following her arrest, the FIA team transported her to Islamabad, where she is expected to appear in court for remand on Monday.
Previously, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had granted Sanam Javed bail in a separate case, filed in Gujranwala. She is facing multiple charges, including involvement in the Zaman Park vandalism, the PMLN house fire, and a Racecourse police station incident, all linked to the May-9 riots, triggered by the arrest of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan.
Gujranwala correspondent adds: On Saturday, heavy police force was deployed outside central jail Gujranwala while the Sialkot Road remained closed for traffic for many hours.
