Peace committee oversees Muharram arrangements

Rawalpindi : The Chairman of the Peace and Order Cabinet Committee, Khawaja Salman Rafiq, visited the main procession routes on the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

The Cabinet Committee, led by Khawaja Salman Rafiq, reviewed the arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram in detail in Rawalpindi. The main procession will pass from Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain and end at the old Imambargah Qadeemi. Khawaja Salman Rafiq has directed to install lights on all procession routes and to ensure the proper cleaning of the procession routes. The Cabinet Committee also visited Madrasah Taleem-ul-Qur'an where they met with Maulana Ashraf Ali.

Chairman of the Peace and Order Cabinet Committee, Khawaja Salman Rafiq, expressed his desire to see an atmosphere of inter-faith harmony and tolerance throughout the province, including Rawalpindi. In addition to security arrangements, he emphasized the need for active peace committees to promote communal harmony. "We have to focus on commonalities and overlook our differences," the Chairman of the Cabinet Committee appealed.

The Peace and Order Cabinet Committee also visited the Safe City Center in Rawalpindi. The Inspector General of Punjab Police visited various departments of the Safe City Center and met with members of the Cabinet Committee. The Safe City cameras are fully supported for the surveillance of Muh­arram, as briefed by the Inspector General of Punjab.

There are 1600 cameras installed in the Safe City Rawalpindi, he added. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Safe City Centers will be established in 18 more districts by the end of this year. Present at the occasion were Chairman and Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Mujtabi Shujaur Rahman, Bilal Akbar Khan, and Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik. They mentioned that they were closely monitoring social media posts and were arranging a detailed record of processions and Majalis.
