LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora on Saturday visited the residence of the murdered Christian youth Marshal Yaqoob at Patiala House to express condolences and solidarity with the bereaved family.
The young man was shot and killed by a neighbour due to a personal grudge. The provincial minister stated that this tragic incident has shaken the entire community and area. He expressed deep sympathy with the affected family and assured them that the Punjab government stands with them during this difficult time.
Speaking to media representatives later, the provincial minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had sought a report on the incident. He mentioned that the DIG was given 48 hours to submit the report. He expressed hope that the culprits will soon be brought to justice.
In response to a question of media persons, he assured the affected family of complete protection and the swift arrest of the culprits. He mentioned that a detailed report will soon be presented to the Punjab Chief Minister to review the financial assistance and other measures for the affected family.
The provincial minister directed the SHO Race Course to investigate the incident and ensure the protection of the affected family. AC Lahore Nabeel Ahmed, Director Human Rights Department M Yousaf, Pastor Shaukat Fazal and relevant police officials were also present on this occasion.
