In the decades leading to the French Revolution, the tax system in pre-revolutionary France exempted the nobles and the clergy from taxes. The tax burden devolved to the wage-earners, professionals and business classes.
Budget 2024-25 presented by the Pakistani government seems to have taken its root from the French taxation system ignoring the fact that the fallout of it led to the storming of the Tuileries Palace.
