ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Asad Qaiser and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (Fazl) chief Fazlur Rehman on Friday discussed the future political strategy and the Supreme Court verdict in a telephonic conversation.
According to sources, they discussed the current political situation and the SC decision on the reserved seats. The Maulana said his party accepted the SC decision and expressed solidarity with the PTI. “We hope the SC decision will help improve mutual relations between the two parties,” he remarked.
Asad Qaiser thanked Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his good wishes and said the apex court decision would establish the supremacy of the Constitution and democracy in the country.
Meanwhile, the JUIF chief ‘partially’ accepted the SC verdict that gave the PTI seats reserved for women and minorities in assemblies. Talking to the media in Dera Ismail Khan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said only constitutional and law experts could give a final opinion on the apex court verdict. He extended goodwill to the PTI leaders. “I hope there would be an improvement in the mutual contacts between the two parties,” he said, adding an environment of talks would be created to address the reservations. The Maulana said as far as the appeal for review filing was concerned, the JUIF would not go for that as a party. “However, we cannot stop those party members from filing appeals individually who have been affected directly by the decision. It is their right,” he explained.
Earlier, while speaking at the party meeting, Fazlur Rehman said his party was working to bring about an improved governance and for welfare of masses. “The present system of governance is neither strengthening the economy nor ending unemployment in the country,” he added.
Without naming the powerful circles, he said: “You are not supposed to ensure the win or defeat of anyone in elections.” The JUIF chief said he had the right to criticism if those who were required to protect the borders of the country indulged in politics. “My criticism is not without a reason as you are neither angels, nor innocent,” he added.
The Maulana said the JUIF would continue the struggle for the enforcement of a true Islamic Sharia-based system in the country. “We will end unemployment in the country after coming to power,” he promised.
