LAHORE:In the financial year 2023-24, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) reached a remarkable income of Rs4.725 billion, reflecting a substantial increase of Rs1,305 million from the previous year.
The board successfully retrieved 6,135 hectares of land, valued at approximately Rs39 billion, from various occupying groups. This significant achievement was driven by the directives of the Federal government and the efforts of key figures such as Chairman Syed Attaur Rehman, Chairman of the One Man Commission (OMC) Dr Shoaib Saddal, and former Chairman Arshad Farid. The retrieval and digitisation of trust property records, along with updates to land records, played a crucial role in boosting the board’s income. The successful year was attributed to the strategic leadership of Secretary Board Farid Iqbal, whose strategies ensured the achievement of the Rs4,725 million target, marking an increase of Rs1,305 million compared to the Rs3,420.90 million income in the year 2022-23. The previous year, 2021-22, saw an annual income of Rs2,845 million, indicating a consistent upward trend in revenue over the years. Practical measures were taken to renovate temples, Gurdawaras, and other religious sites for minorities, enhancing facilities for visitors to Pakistan. Under the supervision of Secretary Board Farid Iqbal, operations were conducted against illegal occupants across several districts, including Nankana Sahib, Karachi, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Okara, Depalpur, Hasan Abdal, and Lahore. With the cooperation of the FIA and other institutions, the board retrieved property worth approximately Rs39 billion, achieving considerable success in the fight against occupying groups. Regular reports from district officers were instrumental in meeting revenue targets and improving overall income.
The cooperation of field staff and security personnel further contributed to the department’s profitability and revenue growth, marking the financial year 2023-24 as a period of substantial progress and success for the Evacuee Trust Property Board.
