23 uplift schemes worth Rs46 billion approved

LAHORE:The 5th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) F.Y 2024-25 was held under the Chairmanship of Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan and approved 23 development schemes of Irrigation and Roads sectors at an estimated cost of Rs46 billion.

The approved schemes included Channelisation of Deg Diversion Channel at the cost of Rs2.520 billion, Remodeling of Nikki Deg Drain at the cost of Rs1.362 billion, Flood Protection of Kamonki and adjoining areas at the cost of Rs2.719 billion, and rehabilitation of different schemes of road sector in Okara, Pakpattan, Multan, Lodhran, Khanewal, Vehari, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts at the cost of Rs39 billion.

Secretary Planning and Development Board Dr Asif Tufail, Secretary C&W Sohail Ashraf, Chief Economist Dr Nasir Iqbal Malik, Members Planning and Development Board, Head of relevant deptts and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments attended the meeting.
