Entities sign agreement to boost job prospects

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-Rural Economic Transformation Project (KP-RETP) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Educational and Vocational Training Authority (KP-TEVTA) signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to enhance employment opportunities and foster economic growth in the province.

The agreement focuses on bolstering KP-TEVTA’s institutional capacity to conduct thorough job market assessments and develop vocational training courses aligned with industry needs.A budget of Rs14.50 million has been allocated for implementing the agreement, which includes conducting job market studies and producing foresight reports to anticipate future job market trends and conditions.

Mohammad Zaheeruddin Babar, Project Director of KP-RETP, emphasised during the signing ceremony that, “This collaboration will significantly improve the employability of our youth by equipping them with the skills demanded in today’s job market.”

Haider, Director of Planning at KP-TEVTA, echoed this sentiment, stating, “This partnership will enable us to gain deeper insights into job market dynamics and tailor our training programmes accordingly, thereby expanding employment opportunities for the youth across our province.”

A press release says that KP-RETP, a flagship initiative of the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), aims to alleviate poverty and enhance food and nutrition security for approximately 785,000 households, benefiting around 4.35 million individuals across 36 districts.The project prioritises women and youth through economic empowerment programmes, market-oriented initiatives, and capacity-building activities.
