WANA: A portion of local health facility washed away by flashflood in lower Kaniguram in Ladha tehsil in Upper south Waziristan tribal district, local residents said on Thursday.
They said that flashflood caused by yesterday’s heavy rains coupled with gusty winds and hailstorm collapsed a portion of Community Health Centre flashflood in lower Kaniguram in Ladha tehsil and swept it away by gushing floodwater.
They also said that cracks had also emerged in the building as the floodwater had weakened the foundation of the CHC and if it was not reconstructed on war-footing, the remaining structure would also collapse soon.
The elders, including Jan Alam Khan and others, said that the CHC was playing a pivotal role in provision of free health services to the residents of lower and upper Kaniguram and remote areas of Ladha and Sarwakai tehsil. They appealed to the government to reconstruct the building as soon as possible to facilitate the residents of far-off areas in Upper South Waziristan.
