Women among 15 killed as jeep plunges into ravine in Neelum Valley

Jeep was carrying passengers from Lavat Balla to Muzaffarabad when it met with an accident early morning

MUZAFFARABAD: Fifteen people, including women, were killed and two others were injured on Wednesday when their jeep fell into a deep ravine near the banks of Neelum river at Laswa Bypass near Devliyan village, Neelum Valley district, some 50 kilometers from here.

The jeep was carrying passengers from Lavat Balla to Muzaffarabad when it met with an accident in the early morning, officials said. The bodies and injured were retrieved by the Rescue 1122 officials and shifted to a nearby health facility in Pattika town by the local people.

AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, expressing sorrow over the incident, has ordered an immediate inquiry into the accident. He expressed condolences with the deceased families.

Also, President Asif Ali Zardari and AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry on Wednesday expressed grief over the deaths in the Neelum Valley accident. The president prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed souls and sympathized with the bereaved families.
