BRT service extended to Pabbi tehsil of Nowshera

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Wednesday decided to extend the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service from Chamkani to Pabbi tehsil of Nowshera district to facilitate masses with quality transport facility.

He decided to declare the Ring Road from Chamkani to Hayatabad as the BRT route for starting modern bus service on the route to facilitate the commuters in the vicinity of the provincial capital.

The chief minister took the decision while chairing 16th board meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority, said a handout.Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah relevant administrative secretaries and other board members attended the meeting. The forum was briefed in detail about the urban mobility plans for the divisional headquarters.

The chief minister, on the occasion, directed the Transport Department to come up with proposals for starting electric bus service in the urban areas of all the divisional headquarters after thorough consultations with all relevant stakeholders.

The forum decided to extend fare exemption to kids up to five years of age traveling with their parents in the BRT buses. The chief minister said the provincial government was committed to developing the transport system of the province along modern lines, directing the officials to take measures for improving service delivery and implementation of the plans.He directed the officials to ensure the availability of all required facilities to citizens at bus stands.
